In the 2 miles it takes me to get home from work I usually see someone pulled over (i get out of work at 1am generally). I've always thought "someday that'll be me"

Well tonight it was. I was going 7 over the speed limit while i drove through an intersection a cop was waiting at, he wasn't clocking me, but he decided to follow me home. Well just before I pull into my street off the main drag he pulls me over. I assume he had run my plates by this point and new i was getting close so he had to pull me over before I got there  . I understand though, everyone who comes into the store at that time of night is drunk...and they aren't all walking that's for sure.

What surprised me was how nice he was, couldn't have been much older than me, definitely still a rookie, but after i told him that "no officer I haven't been drinking" and that I had just gotten off work, he checked my license for warrants and came back and said "Well I know what it's like to be a working man jsut trying to get home, so I'm letting you off with a warning, and here's my business card"

Am I suppose to call him tomorrow and thank him for just a warning or something? Why would a cop who pulls you over at 1am give you their business card?

And that is why you should always be nice when you get pulled over.

That is becoming more and more common. Sometimes it is departmental policy to provide your name and badge number when you have a contact with somebody. A business card is the easiest way to do that. Just don't drop that card on the floor of the local asian massage parlor...........

He could have ticketed you Nick but he didn't. Sounds like he was pretty nice during the whole stop. Send him a thank you card, that'd be a nice return gesture.

I have been pulled over 10 times in 1 year and not one ticket:doah: ! most of the time if you are honest and straight up with them and didn't do some thing stupid they let you off with just a warning. don't know about the card though never had that happen.

I know in Colorado Springs, if the CSPD cops pull you over, they are required to give you a busniess card if they do not give you a ticket.

Think of it as a souvenier. Much better than a ticket:doah:
