If my rotors don't have groves in them could I just replace the brake pads? Or would that be a bad idea?

yeah check them out fairly well, its a good idea to have them turned if they look worn as many places will turn them for free

if they look fine, ride them

Thanks, I'd have them turned or get new ones but I don't have the money right now.

No need to replace the rotors unless they're badly grooved or have been turned down too thin. My S-Jimmy gets driven pretty hard (have to replace the pads about every 20,000 miles!) and it still has the rotors that it left the factory with in 1991. That was over 141,0000 miles ago. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif As was stated, just scuff the rotors up a bit to break the glaze on 'em and you'll be good to go. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
