These are just a few pictures I have taken over the last year from around where I live (the applachian mountains) in Boone, North Carolina. The appalachians are considered one of the oldest mountiain chains in the world...if not the oldest. enjoy!

Thanks. I took them with my nikon digital camera. I have noticed on all digitals that they look somewhat hazy over long distances...which can be seen in the pictures that cover vast expanses. Dont get me wrong, I absolutely love and could not be any happier with my nikon coolpix. I really should have a nice non-digital camera for those. I have never been any good at taking pictures, and after looking at over 400 that I took this past college year, I thought these were worthy of posting.

Beautiful, I really like the pic of the deciduous forest on the hillside. We got mostly evergreen forests, not quite those spectacular colors.

Well....we both have chicken houses...and we all know how that smells... :doah:
Anyways, i have always wanted to live the rest of my life at the beach. I have always found the beach way more attractive than the mountains. Just my kinda atmosphere...and my kinda place. *BUT*....since I have been living in the mountains..I have found that some of the prettiest land that I have seen in all of the country is in the western nc mountains. Just beautiful and breathtaking scenes everywhere you go, But....I still want to live my life at the beach. This beautiful scenery is only temporary untill i can move myself somewhere near the outer banks (uhuuum cape hatteras/ocracoke), or emerald isle nc. Somewhere where not toooo* many tourists come in the winter, and only real fishermen come in the summer...

Man....you wouldnt believe the amount of (what we call "leafers" around here) that come to see the changing of the leaves every october. I swear...the view in the middle of the leaf turn (which i didnt get a pic of) is breathtaking. Every tree on the page is golen brown and yellow. Its one of the views that holds me over (and may i add, very well) untill i move from the western north carolina mountains to the eastern north carolina coast that i am very in love with.

BTW...you can see I caught the "leaf changing" pictures in the early fall. The trees in the distance (at about 1000 feet or higher in elevation) havent even begun to change yet. Ill try to get some good ones of the leaves next year. They are absolutely amazing...

I have seen photos of the Appalachians and the Ozarks in the fall, absolutely beautiful. One day I'll make it out there to see for myself. I'll be a 'leafer'. I live four blocks from the beach, you can have it. The scenery never changes. I spend most of my free time in the mountains of Northern Ca. That's where I will live one day.
