K-5\'s New Colors and Fender Cut Out Pics

Here is a link to some picks of my new colors on the K-5. There are also some pics of the fender cut outs that I did. Some folks were asking questions about cutting fenders and here is a 4" lift with cut fenders and 35" tires that dont hit anywhere and it will stuff front and rear under the fenders. I have some 36x14.5x15 TSL Radials that I am fixin to install and they clear as well.

They don't even hit when turning? Maybe it's because of the way your spring moves vs. my 6" springs that mine hits. Also, I think 35" x 16.5" BFG/MTs measure a bit taller than the 35x15's. I guess vehicle weight, spring dimensions, and actual tire diameter/width dictate if they will hit. The fenders look nice, too.

Working on the soft top thing. As soon as I get the black parts painted, I will send you some good shots (hopefully from Tellico) for the Beast Project Page.

    Thanks

Yep, thats the idea, and with it being so wide, it gets scratched very often. I am gonna do some body work to it and get rid of the old cracked bondo and fix some of the big dents, but not going to make it perfect, just remove some of the big damage, keep the Rustoleam Hunger Green and run the hell out of it.

The K-5's have a duel fender, there is an inside piece as well as the inner fender well, so when you cut them you have 2 pieces to join together or you get rattles from hell. I welded all my seams back up and in some spots I had to cut sheetmetal plates and add them in. On the rear on both upper corners there is added metal and on the back part of the front fenders there is added metal as well.

You need to take a day and bring your arse down here so we can make that crossmember so you can do crossover steering, makes for alot nicer trail running.

Nope, dont hit anywhere. I was just barely getting a rub on the passenger front rocker panel before I cut them back another 5 to 6 inches, now its no where near close, even at turn and full stuff. I have Tuff Country E-Z ride springs 4" with the OffRoadDesigns front shackles and not a problem yet.

Ordering a steering brace today from ORD. What you doing next week? I have the week off to tinker with the truck and put in a water heater.
I been trying to find a Knuckle to get machined. Belive me I want that done! I'm tired of hooking tires and finding the truck won't go where I have the steering. Let me know what materials I need. I have some 1x2 box 1/8 inch wall and some 2x2 3/16 wall. Getting short on plate though, only got some 2 inch wide but 10ft long 3/16 left.
    Let me know!

Wow, man that looks great. Are you going to have the Swampers for Dixie Run? You'll be slinging some mud for sure.

Re: K-5\'s New Colors and Fender Cut Out Pics

I think Rusty (the guy with the big black K5 on 40's with the 454) has a flat top knuckle that he may sell to ya for a good price, then you have to get it machined, I have a place to do that, but John wont be in a hurry to do it, he has tons of other stuff going on and usually tells me that it will be sometime in the next 2 months.

I think my crossmember is 1"x2" 1/4 or 3/16 wall tube. I then used some flat plate and some angle, I have everything but the tube, but I am sure that something else could be used in its place.

Let me know what you want to do, I will ask Rusty about the knuckle tonight
