I'm wondering: Ive heard great things about these filters, my concern is do you get rid of the cold air duct when you use these and if so does it have an adverse effect in hot weather?

You use the stock setup, its just a replacement filter that goes in the same place as your current one. It should be about $30 at an auto parts store.

I installed a K&N filter with an open housing on our '90 Jimmy, 350, TBI, got rid of all the air-intake, but kept all of the erg fittings. I live in West Texas and have not experienced any problems because of heat, winter may be another matter.

I kept all the factory junk because of emmissions and I'm glad I did today because it rained really hard and water could have gotten in easily. It was about 8" high, big splashed twice the size of my truck.

You get a little smoother idle and more power.
