Ok, first thing i'm gonna do is put in a K&N Air Filter, and here's the question: My air cleaner unit has what seems to be a permanent filter element attached to the bottom of the cleaner housing, when you set your new air filter in this piece is positioned behind the new filter. Should i leave this in? Take it off? Or get a new housing alltogether?
    thanks.

I think I know what your talking about..It's a small metal screen type filter only an inch or two tall? I would leave it in, perhaps remove, clean and re-install.

Mud is just thick water, or is it that water is just thin mud?

it is a fine mesh screen, about 3/4 inch thick and it stands 3.5 inches tall, it is glued in and cannot be removed...now what?
