One of the first mods I did to my Jimmy after lifting it was to install the ORD bolt-on steering brace. My "new" K20 has 36 TSLs but no steering brace. The proportioning valve on it is positioned a little different which would cause the installation of a brace to be quite a bit more intensive. But, it would still be less work than repairing the frame later.

My question is does a K20 need a steering brace? I have heard these frames are a little thicker and stiffer.

It's not a bad idea to run the box brace on the K20, I had a high school buddy that busted his frame on a 3/4T with 35's and a 6" lift, and as stupid as we might have been at the time we weren't doing near the stuff to our trucks that we're doing now.
Moral of the story, the thicker frame helps but doesn't solve the problem.
