If you want a Dana 60 I believe you need to look for a K30 from 77 to 91.

    Great question!

Every day I happened to pass this old GMC (mid 80's, I htink '86) that's been sitting in a guys front yard for the past year. It is 4 wheel drive, has a 4-speed (I'm assuming a 465), has 8-lug wheels on a FF rear (havne't been able to look under it yet, though). It has a 350 that's either blown or has bad bearings. I believe the guy wants about $700 for it as is. I was thinking about it as a donor, but don't know what the front diff would be, or if it's worth the headache it would cause with my landlord.
It has a "2500" emblem on the side. Is this truck a K30 or K20? I though K20 because of the "2500" on the side.

Should I assume this truck may have a Dana 60 in the front?

You are right on for designations. I think the K20's had 10bolts though. Good donor for other parts. I doubt there will be a D60 lurking under there.
