just curious but has anyone raced their K5 down the strip....and what was your run time? I have a 85 k5 bone stock with exhuast and 32's and i'm guessing it runs like a high 18 or low 19.....any idea?

I don't know. If I punch it, I usually run out of gas before I get to the 1/4 mile.

I tested out a friends g-tech the other day. We didnt do the quarter mile, but I did do 0-60 and horsepower rating. My truck with 7" lift, 36" tires, 4:56 gears, stock 87' 350 with a mild cam. Ran a 9.2 0-60 time with 191 peak horsepower at the rear wheels. We plan to test to g-tech out some more in his mustang.. hehe

I tested mine o-60 once, i didn't have a stopwatch, so I just started the track over on the CD player and looked at how many seconds had gone by when I got to 60. It didn't work well, I saw it change from 9 to 10.

Quarter mile stock has got to be at least 17 seconds, but with a big rear wing, some yellow painted brake calipers and an "R-type" sticker, that time is bound to drop into the 11's.

I JUST WENT TO THE TRACK ON FRIDAY AND MY FRIEND RAN HIS 93 ford BRONCO WITH A STOCK 302 WITH HEADERS AND FLOWMASTERS TRUE DUAL EXHUAST NO CATS, 35 INCH TSL's AND 4.56 HE RAN A 20.00 AT 65.3 MPH. HE HAS A 9 INCH LIFT NOT TOO BAD FOR SUCH A BIG TRUCK I THINK I'LL RUN MORE OR LESS THE SAME IN MY JIMMY MAYBE 18's IF I TAKE MY CAMPER OFF (1975 FULL CONVERTABLE) BUT EVEN THEN ITS NOT TO BAD FOR EL PASO.

    There's a video of a full size K30 4x4 running 13's on off-road.com/chevy. I think it has a normally aspirated 502 BBC.

Mine will do 20's stock, and mid 12's when I put the Turbo sticker on the side... :) I'm kinda curios what mine will do w/ the 383 and some lower gears. I'm guessing about 15-16, but I have the SM465, and I don't think I can shift it that fast, unless they make a better shifter for it, correct me if I'm wrong.

    Stupid hurts

0-60 in the low 9's. 33 BFGs, 3.43 gears, everything else stock. Second gear is where my power is at.

I have a 73 blazer that had a 427 in it with 9.5 to 1 pistons open chamber heads and a RV cam. I don't know what lift or anything, but it ran at Bandimere ET 15.7 @ 87mph. It had 3.73 gears and 31 inch tire.

    That's me:

The event was over when I was allowed into the track, so I didn't get an ET from their machines. But it was approximately 18-19 seconds. I did notice it was exactly 75mph when crossing the line, shifting to 3rd at that precise moment.

It has 350/350/NP203 (still full time), 31" tires, 3.07 gears. I was running only the exhaust manifolds down to the stock Y-pipe that day. The carb gave me some trouble too.

One of the guys in my club has an 85 burban that runs low 14's. It's got a pretty built 454 and sits on 8" of lift and 36's.
I plan on taking my jimmy to the strip once the weather gets a little nicer. I had a friend time my 0-60 with a stopwatch and it was 8.6 seconds. It's an 88 with a stock 350/700, K&N filter, Jacobs ignition, 4.56's and 33's. I dusted some kid in an early 80's firebird one night a couple months ago, he tried to downshift a second time and blew up his tranny... that was so damn funny!! A few weeks ago on my way to class I took a kid in a tricked out neon and at the second light we came to he was giving me really dirty looks, that was pretty funny too. I love it when peoples jaws drop in disbelief. It should be even more fun when I get the new dual exhaust put in.

My buddy Jeremy ran a 16.5 in an '84 Chevy 4x4 stepside. It had a 350 horse (dynoed) 355, 350 tranny, 208 case, no lift, 33" Sport Kings.

Our race track at Idalou was small town, run what you brung. His race was against a '92 6.5 Diesel 4x4 1 ton chevy which ran somewhere in the 17s...
