I called around today trying to find kingpins for my 60 and no one has them. Where am I supposed to get these things and how much do they run?

exactly what part are you after?
the lower 'kingpin' is a tapered bearing and race
the upper 'kingpin' is a machined tapered cone with a matching ?nylon? bushing that is preloaded with a spring similar to a valve spring.
there are a couple of seals to retain grease as well,
gaskets to seal the covers and steering arm,
a ?post? on the bottom that retains the tapered bearing.

let me see if I can link to the dana expert page

I circled around for a while but didnt fall on the exploded image that I know is there ???

What do you put in for model # of the Dana 60? I tried 60, model 60, dana 60, etc. and it would not show as a valid model for a parts list. I must be missing something obvious.

Randy's Ring & Pinion has the upper kingpin and nylon bushing as part of a D60 rebuild kit.

    Prices are reasonable too....

I just replaced everything on the used 1985 K30 Dana 60 I have, including upper and lower king pins. I went straight to the local GM dealership and found/bought everything there. I don't know if that was more expensive than other places or not (maybe it was), but they were able to get everything I needed within a 24 hour period, which made it worthwhile to me. I can't remember exact prices on everything, but if you really need part numbers and prices, I could compile that tonight at home, and enter it here tomorrow (I don't have a computer at home).

One thing I didn't buy from GM was a lower kingpin kit, I bought an aftermarket one that was slightly more expensive, but it featured a 1.5 degree adjustability in camber.

I didn't have any part numbers for anything, just a crusty 1985 Chevy Dana 60 axle. I just went to the dealership, told them what I had, what I wanted, and they ordered it. Got everything I needed in one day. As for the lower king pins, I did not go GM. I was in a parts store one day trying to get the lower king pin kits cheaper, and they had a kit that was similar to the GM offering, a little more expensive, but it had a 1.5 degree adjustability of camber built into it. I'm not sure if it was a good idea or not, but I'm going to try it.

I figure if I wheel the wee out of it, or maybe bend an axle tube (slightly) or whack the axle into something really hard, or if I get the dreaded death wobble, maybe that extra 1.5 degrees of adjustability may come in handy. I figure for roughly the same price, why not get a little extra? I'm new at the whole Dana 60 thing, so this is not the voice of experience, yet. If you want the part number of what I got, I'd gladly give it to you.

CC, I called the H&W auto parts store that I bought the kit from, and they remembered me. The part is a Moog (or Federated) brand, the part number is K992, and the price was 117.67 for one kit, for one side. (That one really hurt me behind!) Good luck!

Hey , I found them on the net for 83$ each side , are they good quality? do they look like they will hold up to extreme bashing on the rocks? I saw a picture in my moog catalog , and was wondering if they are worth the money? Does it have an area for the lower seal to ride on? Greasable? Sorry to ask so many Q's , but I've got to know if it's worth 170+ to get these over the stock non adjustable ones!!! Thanks ............CC

Sorry it took awhile to get back to you (I don't have a computer at home). It's a Moog part, so there is no question its a quality part, the bearing was a Timken, so question about quality there either. They are fully greasable, like factory. I have installed these parts only a couple of weeks ago, but my truck is still not up and running, so I cannot tell you yet how they function, but it should be fine.

What is the advantage of extra camber? I need to rebuilt my kingpins as well since my lowers are kinda messed up.
