knock sensor ?

    ok i got my motor all together fixed all the bugs and now im getting a code from the computer that my knock sensor is broke. what the hell is a knock sensor and can i bypass it? /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

    The knock sensor is a sensor down on the side of the block that detects the sound of detonation in your engine then the computer retards your timing to make it stop. I'm not 100% about the TBI trucks, but on my 83 I have the ckt disabled and all it does is prevent it from retarding the timing. I doubt it makes much difference either way, but if your rig is stock you may as well fix it. Before you replace the sensor, check the wiring and make sure it's not melted on the exhaust manifold or something.
