it drives me up a wall when people click the reply button next to my name when the were really replying to someone else. when you click the reply button next to some peoples names it sends that reply to their e-mail. and then I, i mean they, get a reply about something that i, or they, have no idea about. Please dont press the blue reply button next anybodys' name unless that is who you really wanted to reply to.

thanks, i really needed to vent.

i just learned about that "feature" recently so I imagine a lot of people dont know about it. but its just natural to click the last "reply" button instead of scrolling alllllllllllllll the way back up :) there should be a "add to thread" button at the bottom or something...

Well, it is sorta like if you were in person talking to someone while looking at another. *shrug*

But, I wouldn't think that people would start replying to the person they're talking to anytime soon.

We aren't supposed to spend hours on here?!?

Uh-oh.

But, if you don't spend time on here, you can't help answer OTHER peoples problems or questions. if you ONLY look at the email replies, you are only going to be getting your questions answered. And I know you help others, so you MUST spend some hours on here! That is called denial!

I didn't even know you could do that...
Why would you want that? You miss details that might have come-up in the thread.
To each his own, i guess.

I try to reply to the right person on the thread, but sometimes its just a genneral idea, or something to add..not directed to anyone. If thats the case I just hitt what-ever is close. Any thoughts on this?

15. i agree with torkDSR. i like being able to reply to a certain persons reponse so they know it is directed at them. a lot of post still go off the original subject a bit- which is ok- but it's nice to have your answeres directed back to you. now if i can only teach my kids that![IMG]

most of the times the posts people reply to me about are the posts that i returned to them about his/her problems.

its not denial its acute forgetfulness. hehe [IMG]

Just wondering.....and this isn't to any one inparticular, but...shouldn't this be in the NON 4x4 forum? Just my opinion.

Ok guys and gals, in Ryan's defense, I TOTALLY agree with what he is saying. I know a few people have brought this up in the past (myself included). What he is trying to say is that many people just reply to the last person who posted even if they are not "talking" to that last person. In other words, your reply should be to the person you are addressing.

I can understand his frustration. It isn't that everyone's comments aren't appreciated. If you have ever done a search for a topic and have looked through a thread where people just reply to the last person who responded, you'll know what I mean. If everyone would do this, the threads would be SO MUCH easier to look through, and that would in turn make it so much easier on ALL of us.

And it doesn't have anything to do with changing your preferences either because if you post something, then many times you would like an email directly to you.

Oh, and it would be cool if a person wouldn't get smarta$$ remarks to a post that was made just because he/she is voicing an opinion. I think its a great idea this was posted here and I think we'd ALL benefit from this post if it was posted in ALL the forums.

Just my .02. peeeeace....
