Yeah, they've got sun rooms at the northerly bases for those who can't handle the sudden lack of sun. I've got buddies that shipped off to Eielson AFB in AK that were briefed about it. If they were feeling down, they could go spend some time under the happy lights.

The light temperature of daylight is somewhere around 6500 degrees kelvin. Can be higher or lower depending on time of year, time of day...etc.

The highest known artificial source of light is 6200 IIRC,produced from a Xenon Arc Lamp. This is however, not very cost effective.

The best thing the average consumer can get is a photoflood flood lamp (photograhers use it), somewhere around 3400k

Fairly high I think, I'd say 3000 or so. Not really sure. But the amount of lumens produced is very low, so you'd need alot of them going at once.
Plus this light is in a different spectrum.
Same goes for the Xenon light sources, you need them very big to produce the full effect of actual daylight. Auto manufactures traded brightness for lumens by adding mercury and other heavys to the gas mix so it makes more lumnens in a package that can be used in a car. Plus this makes it a bit more stable, so the cost of the power supply lowers (lowers is a relative term, $1000 or so) to something more attainable. Pure Xenon sources need an extremely stable power supply to sustain the light. These power supplies aren't cheap. The ones used in the IMax movie projectors go for close to $100,000 or so IIRC.

You could get a 400w metal halide bulb set up. I've got one that's 5500K, and it gave me a sunburn once when I fell asleep...

Depression is a serious problem. Often coupled with anxiety and binge drinking, you should seriously look for some help. Other symtoms include:
    • Not taking pleasure in activities that were once enjoyable.
    • sleep problems
    • loss of appetite
    • inability to concentrate
    • inablity to perform in the bedroom, lackof desire
    • memory problems
    • aches and pains
    • feel worthless, helpless, and hopeless about their ability to fix things.
    • They often welcome sleep
    • Feel their waking life as a living nightmare

I think you fall into many of those categories.

No, you'd like to take a nap, but 'sleep problems' will intervene, and you'll go for the bottle.
