    :haha:
Who's interested in an unstructured weekend exploring, camping & trail driving, in the El Paso Mtns/Last Chance Canyon area, sometime in October or November.
Probably head-out Thursday night or Friday night, through mid morning Sunday; or whatever.

    Yep..
Info for camping is shown on this link.

Some people can split the site cost if they want to double up.
I was thinking about taking the motorhome and having wifey drive the blazer but they have a 30' limit (Im at 35') on coaches.
Maybe drycamp over in Jawbone for free :dunno:

For those who don't already have one, the Friends of Jawbone Canyon map is a must for the whole area from 395 to Mojave, CA 58 to Ridgecrest.
FOJ and CORVA are the folks fighting to keep access to this area. The map is extremely undervalued at $2.00

    more Hot Links:D Thanks guys.
'88, I was thinking along the lines of tailgate/drycamp within the area, along the trails, like Cudahy Camp for example.

If the wind isn't blowing too hard there is an awsome camp spot above where LC turns East. Looking at the FOJ map it is directly under the "h" of "Old Dutch Cleanser Mine" There is an established road going to it, if it's been closed since I was there last (about 10 years ago) then it's an illegal closure as I've been using that road for over 20 years.

Not a problem. in a couple days you can cover a pretty good amount of area out there. May not be too much hard wheeling but theres a lot of old mines and things to see.

Just where it turns east is the Cudahy Camp. I think I was 10 or 12 the last time I was up a Burro Schmidts Tunnel and the Opal mine. Dont remember much about the canyon.

Hmmm, the one I pic'd is for the NP208. Do you have NP241? T-case drop, so its not fatory set-up? In any case, if you can tilt the engine, tranny, T-case assembly, thats what is jumping when moving from rest.:eek1:

Cudahy is in the canyon, and AIR further down than the turn (at least the slabs etc. are), this is up on the ridgeline to the west.

I typed Cudahy only because its easiliy identifiable, I've not actually been there myself. You guys seem to be a whole lot more familiar with the area. I would sooner go with your suggestions.:D

The place I think of Cudahy (whether it actually is or not) is a fairly nice place. Several large flat areas where there are the remains of buildings, and some shade from the evil Tamarisk bushes. I like the view of the place I suggested, but it's all good.

Footnote: Tamarisk's really are an evil, non-native species that is taking over the desert by drying up what little water there is and squeezing out the native species. I've been on one BLM sponsored tear-out party (via FOJ), and I'm sure that there will be more.

Depending on how close it ends up being to thanksgiving I'd be up to go. I just don't want to go out much when it starts getting close to Glamis

OK, you have to understand something...I am from Santa Barbara (no that does not mean I eat my young), going to the Miller Jeep Trail was far Far FAR away for me...what is the 14?

I have a commitment Oct 7 in Chico which is why no Blazerfest in Moab and another deal on Oct 27...

So here are weekends I can make it...If not, maybe we can do a day trip to Miller or somewhere else on one of these days.
