It's estimated that 72% of Americans do NOT have a last will and testament.

Do you have one, or will you inadvertantly bless your family with debt and tax?

I was going to write my own, but with a deal from LegalZoom, I might as well drop the $90 and have it done instead of spending 4 months researching it and then dying without ever getting it done...:rotfl:

I want a $30 pine box, the kind that was good enough for my great great great great grandfather 200 years ago, and a couple people to say what a grumpy bastard I was but there was some spark of good somewhere. Heck I'll build the box and dig the hole myself before I go. Then drop me in, fill it in, and go have a sandwich. None of this $10,000+ funeral stuff, that's highway robbery.

Ever notice when you're the first one to vote and you choose the middle option, it looks like the poll is giving you the finger when you see the results? Just me? Ok nevermind.

Now everyone voted and are still giving you the finger:laugh: :D

I'm with you about a minimalist funeral. 10 grand for a party that you will never attend is a bit stiff.(Pardon the pun)

Please forgive my ignorance, but could you explain this to me? I have never dealt with anything like this.

I have a will and an advanced directive (which I would highly recommend to everyone).

Got a will and living will courtesy of the military. Really good idea to do one before you deploy.

    I don't have one. But I'm 19.

My funeral is gonna be a HUGE keg party and no one is leaving until they're wasted.

I have a will, although I need to update it.

Men procrastinate having a will written because they are not willing to face their own mortality.

Funny thing Ratch, just a few weeks ago I told my wife I want a pine box.

Then drop it in the ground up on Boot Hill. I'll be rejoicen' in the glorious presence of my King, Jesus.:D

By the way, y'all are invited.

    Nothing to lose...

I have yet to make a will out..my older brother just did,at age 52...

I have nothing of any real value for anyone to squabble over when I'm gone,IF I go before my siblings..they can HAVE my 3 trucks,a meager toolbox, and all the other junk I left..my garage sits on my mothers property,so thats hers automatically I guess..dont have but a few hundred in the bank,so money won't cause a greedy relative dilema..

I'd just assume be creameted in my barrel stove than for my next of kin have to pay 5 grand for my final send off..or maybe I'll be one of those skeletons hanging in the closet at some college university..I hear your wake is free,if your corpse is donated to science...

One guy I know tells his wife to "put me in a hefty trash bag,and leave me in the dumpster...:eek1: ..and spend the money you saved wisely..

That is the important part to me. I have a directive, and powers of attorney drawn up so that it can be carried out. Of course with my attitude, they would be all too happy....

I really don't need a will as everything in La. goes to my wife/kids anyway and that's what i want.

Everyone should have some form of a will - even if it just your own hand writing on a piece of paper.

Folks with children really need to discuss what they want to happen to their children if both of them were to die and write it in their wills too.

If you have any assets at all (a house, nice car, more than ~$20,000) it may be worth having a living trust - so your estate avoids probate. Easier, faster and cheaper for your family - even if the laws are specific - probate can take time and money.
