What was the last year that 1 tons came with a SFA? If it was 91, how does 1 ton rated IFS compare it? Is it better than a 10 bolt? Someone educate me.

91 I believe. As far as strength, the actual housing and cv shafts are prob. around equal, but with the IFS, if you run anything over a 35" tire, you worry about alignment problems and that kind of stuff since the upper a-arms can't handle the forces of the larger tires. You will see alot of trucks going down the road with tires like this / \. With a 10 bolt you just worry about toe, and that isn't knocked out very easy, so if it's a street truck with no off roading scheduled, the 10 bolt would hold the tires better than the IFS. But anything over a 35" tire will be popping u-joints in the 10 bolt, and cv's on the IFS.

If you're talking about 1 ton p/u's the last year was '88. Blazer's and Subs were '91. Those didn't come in the 1 ton form(exception rare subs) so I think your answer is '88.

1991 was deffinently the last year. My neighbor has a '91 silverado K3500 crew cab. It's the 80's body style with the '91 blazer/Sub, nose. It has a D60 front,FI454,4l80e, and a NP205. It's a single wheel crew cab, I'm just waiting for him to decide to sell it.
