The set up is: 1986 with 350, 700r4 and an np208. np208 is leaking on the right (outboard, curb) side where the rear cover mates to the unit. I pulled the 2 bolts that connects the whatever it is brace that mounts on to the tranny, cleaned it up to find the leak and presto, no leak...wtf? Must be that brace thing is torquing the 208, right? So what's the fix? shim out the brace bolts? Confused and getting cold...Thanks for any help on this.

Many of the bolt holes on a 208 thread into the inner cavity of the case. Put a bit of thread sealant on the bolts before reinstalling them and many times mysterious leaks are gone. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Thanks! I thought that brace might have been cranking the case apart. You are right, it is the front bolt hole that goes through.
    Thanks again /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
