My TH400 has been leaking for some time now, and I checked most of the usual spots but couldn't figure out where it was coming from. It turns out it is coming out where the shift linkage meets the case and is dripping off of the Equalizer lever. I did not know this was even possible. Is there an O-ring back there or a seal that I can replace without removing the entire tranny? Also, if I can replace the seal or O-ring, will I have to re-adjust the shift linkage?

It is called the shift shaft seal and is easily replacable without removing the trans. Pop the linkage out, remove the nut, remove the seal and install the new one. 1/2 hour tops!
