OK, I am wondering if my luck could possible get any worse (I am sure it could)...

OK, first I blew the engine and tranny in Jedi Mind Trick, and then I blew the engine in Insane Ewok.

OK, so I have a mechanic that is suppose to be doing the engine in Jedi Mind Trick, but he decides not to touch anything for 2 1/2 weeks and I just can't wait any longer so I decide to do it myself.

so I start doing it and everything is going OK. then I get an in-grown fingernail (none of the doctors have ever seen one) it gets infected enough I gotta have surger on it. get that fixed and today I dislocate a rib...

work through both of those (and I finally got all the hoists etc. to pull the engine) and I have the engine almost out of the k5! the last pully is just clearing the front of the vehicle and the next thing I know the welds on my hoist break!!! man I'm MAD!!!!!!!!! [IMG]

anyway I'm trying to find a good welder that can get a good fix on my hoist so I can finish this up. I don't know how quick that will be, and I'm curious to see if the engine falling back in broke anything! [IMG]

DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO yourself a favor and do a tribal luck dance. Then find a fourleaf clover. Stick some quaters in between your toes. Start sporting a few roseries. And quit breaking mirrors. This may help you out some.[IMG][IMG]

You need to wash your karma out or something! Man! That's rough!
You could prolly rent a hoist if you don't think you can find a welder any time soon.

It's been lovely, but I have to scream now.

Man, Jeff, you seriously need to go on vacation... Or is that when this all started?

Take a couple minutes with a beer on the porch (or iced tea, whatever), and reflect on the pride you have in your K5... Then think of all this happening to a ricer, and laugh because you can recover from the damage...

How the heck did you dislocate a rib???

Damn!! You must have got some of my bad luck! My suggestion is to hire a priest, go sit in the sweat lodge for a while, and avoid anything mechanical for atleast a day!

If the shoe fits, get another one just like it

Jeff, if it makes you feel any better things like that assure me that all is well. When things are going nice and smooth i know disaster is around the corner...

Take a break and get away from it for a few minutes or whatever it takes to regroup and approach it with a fresh perspective.

That doesn't sound TOO bad...just think of what could have happened? At least its the old engine coming out and not the new one going in!!
My engine blew. I found an engine. Took it to a shadetree mechanic. When he pulled the old engine he broke the front shaft on the tranny. He put the new engine in without telling me he took my tranny to the cleaners. Got in to drive it away...it just sat there!!!! He then tells me he had a "problem" with the transmission and the torque converter. I told him that it is his responsibilty to repair the tranny. He tells me to go f myself. I told him he wasn't gettting paid till the tranny shop looked at it. He told me he would BURN IT TO THE GROUND before he would let me have it back. I called the coppers who then told me that they couldn't do anything until he actually set fire to it!! What a bunch of BS!! he then goes and takes A SEMI and blocks my Blazer in. Then he takes CHAINS and ties it down. I had to pay the bastard so I could get my Blazer back...even if it didn't run and didn't drive [/sad]. I then had to pay a towing bill for about 60 miles on a flatbed. Then the tranny shop tells me its the mechanics fault. I had to pay the tranny shop for their work. Then the transmission won't shift into overdrive. Then a tranny line blows off and I am covered in red liquid. One of my neighbors comes out and sees me covered in "blood" and calls an ambulance. I was down on the ground screaming bloody mad. So I had to deal with the ambulance and cops again!! Had to have it towed again to the tranny shop since I didn't want to mess with a blown tranny line. THEN, no were not done yet, the tranny shop can't get my Blazer started....its Diesel, so I had to drive that 60 miles to show em how to start it. Now my S10 is acting funny and stinking....smells like rotten eggs. Got a feeling its the cat and lack of muffler and lack of exhaust pipe all around!!
And on top of this having to get a cash advance on my credit card to pay all this, and paying all my other bills, and trying to get my job to give me more hours!!
Thanks for reading my problems....now...WHATS NEXT?!?!?

    SK-15
    J**P...it's whats for dinner!
Roads? Where we're going, we don't need any roads!
If it wasn't for bad luck I would have no luck at all!!

    hey,

man thanks a ton for the encouragement everybody!!! (that rabbit's foot could come in handy, but I don't know if I could stand the odor! LOL)...

a found a guy that came over and welded it for me, for free non the less, so I'm pretty happy about that... [IMG]

anyway I got that fixed and had the thing clear (I'm pulling the tranny at the same time too) in the front. I start leveling the thing so the tranny will clear too, and wouldn't you know it my leveler came apart. I think this one was actually my fault though. when I was putting it together they send 1 nut for each end, and I thought just for good measure I'd add a second and torque the 2 together. I figured I should probably tack weld it, but thought the 2 nuts would do a good job.

well I was wrong, and I should have went with my first instinct. however, this one didn't fall it just went at a real bad angle so I was able to set it down. I will fix the thing in the morning, and I'll do it the way I figured I should have done it the first time! [IMG]

anyway I really wanted this engine out and sitting on a stand today, but all in all I don't think things went too bad because I didn't seem to have any major breaks. (knock on wood) I do have a hard time believing there aren't going to be some problems I haven't seen related to the engine falling when the hoist broke though.

well, again thats for everybodies comments. it does make a guy to feel good and have some relief to have this kinda response in so short of a time.

At least both of you guys know how to work on your own stuff. If I didn't know how to work on my truck I'd be walking. I suggest every off-roader does. Nobody's rich enough to pay people to do all their dirty work. Get greasy and learn if you don't know already, it's the best advice anyone ever gave me about my truck.

You know......since you seem to be a movie buff you should consider a temporary "change of handle" on this message board. A better movie for you might be "The Exorcist"!!!!! [IMG]

You could name your truck "Regan" and you could call yourself "Father Carass" [sp?]

....imagine walking around the Blazer reading verses from the BIble....while the truck idles and groans and pukes out coolant (hey, it's even GREEN!).....and then after a while the engine will begin to levitate all by itself (with it's cylinder heads rotating completely around)......at that precise moment.....swap out the bad one, and slip in the new one!

Problem solved! ....Oh, and maybe put a little distilled Holy Water in the cooling system for good luck on the new engine.

    -Greg72
....also a "movie buff"....sounds nicer than "guy with too much time on his hands" [IMG]

oh yea, you asked how I dislocated a rib...

between my shoulder bladed I have one that dislocates about every year and a half (happened since high school), but is has been about 3 years since I've had one.

I was disconnecting the fuel lines on my truck when it happened, nothing major. instead of disconnecting at the tbi I disconnected it at the frame where it comes down to tie in.
