The following pictures are of my brand new ZZ502 with less than 200 miles on it. I bought it as the completely assembled version. It came with everything. As the pictures show, the counterweight on the flexplate broke off tearing a nice gash into my oilpan. Lost all oil pressure and is knocking because of it. Take a look....

Hey Jimmy, I have the ram jet 502 and it has a bad rear main in it, GM said they would warranty the part, but because its in a lifted vehicle, they will charge extra for that, hahaha I said, good ole GM. So i guess i will do it myself.

If it is a GM flexplate, they should warranty it since it was a bad part

I think they will say "nice long bolt in that flex plate! Looks like you just bought a new oil pan!" /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif

If thats a G.M. flexplate it's covered. IF that's what caused the problem. No labor is covered on anything but a service replacement engine. Parts are covered. If the dealer gets wishy washy, call G.M. Customer Service. Some dealers get scared of this stuff because it's kind of a gray area. If you have a G.M. Performance Catalog, look at the inside cover. It states the performance parts warranty.

    Thanks Rene,
I still havent quite got the hang of posting pictures...

    To others,
Yes, it was a GM flexplate that came bolted on the engine when I bought it. All I did was check the torque on the bolts. The convertor is a Hughes unit, about $450.00. The bolts are not too long. They are at least 4-5" away from the pan.
The other part in the second picture was too dark to see. There is another spot next to the broken weld where it broke too.

I hope my parts guy can help me. He put in a call to someone at GM. He had me email these pictures (and others) to him. Hopefully something good will come of this. /forums/images/icons/frown.gif
