Why won't my lockout hubs from my 1/2 ton D44 swap over to my 3/4 ton 4x4? Figured it would save me some money, but just checked on Warn's application chart, and they are not interchangable.

the hubs are different sizes i believe, i know when we put 1/2 ton hubs/rotors onto a 3/4 ton 10 bolt we used the half ton lockouts..

Lockouts are the same. Check the application guide again. Not only are they the same for D44/10 bolt in all internal hub configurations, they work on Ford, Chevy, Dodge, and any other brand that used internal hub D44s.

Before you tell me I'm wrong, I've ran the same Warn Premium hubs that I bought in 2000 on three different front axles, in both 6 and 8 lug configurations.

I just saw another post on our board saying that they are the same so you should be good.

They are all the same with the exception of the external and internal. Other than that, all internals are interchangeable, as are all externals.

Here are the lines off of the application chart:

Model Year Spline Count Standard Manual Premium Manual Spindle Nut Kit Service Kit Standard Service Kit Premium
    1/2 Ton Pickup G ,H '69-87 19 9790 20990 32720 11967 20825
    3/4 Ton Pickup G '60-76 19 - 9072 - - 7302

Kind of confusing to read, so here is the link.

In the truck right now is the stock 1/2 ton D44 from 1970 and going in is a stock 3/4 ton D44 from an early 70's.

You probably need external design hubs.

thats the BIG hub D44 the one that are on the "1ton" D44's anyways theres another syle external and then also the standard internal that most people run... you can probably find a set of the internal hubs pretty resonably... and just use your old lockouts so that way you atleast are using the stuff that is more common, get prices at napa and mabe autozone I belive they carry the hub.

There is no such thing as a 1 ton Dana 44. All 1 ton Chevy trucks had D60s.

Not before a certain year...somewhere in the late 70s I think is when they started putting D60's into 1 tons.

77' was the first year for the D60 1 ton. Despite what some people think. There was a 1 ton rated 4wd before 77' but it had a D44 instead, and yes it isn't a "1 ton" front axle but the cargo weight and towing of the truck was rated as a 1 ton and that is what most people that don't wheel them care about.

but officially no 1 ton 4x4 or dana 60 front til 77 under GM trucks,
anything before 77 was a K20- no K30 existed yet

good luck with hubs swapping, i donthave a clue what ones will swap out, i know that in 77 there still was full tiem iron bolted flat hubs but soem 77 were the sheet metal chrome full time caps though.
