My 5-6 year old Kodak (2MP, 2x optical zoom) digital camera died on me a month or two ago after many years of good service. I was pretty disappointed but kept my eye out for a new camera to replace it. I found one for a hell of a deal recently and the wife gave the ok. Here she is...

6.1MP, 10x optical zoom, 32MB of onboard memory, nice big lense yada yada yada. Includes a free 2GB SD memory card too. yay! Talk about an upgrade. I'm psyched, can't wait until it gets here.

Best part is the price. It was on sale at Costco.com for $189.99 with the free card... but I have a $25 gift card for Costco and my dad offered to chip in $50 too (mainly because he is tired of me borrowing his, and he feels sorry for my poor ass while I save for a downpayment on a house!). Anyway, final price was $12x after tax. woohoo!

yeppers... my old cam only had 2x zoom... so it'll be a huge difference. My wife and I got a nice made-in-japan, aluminim tripod at a garage sale for $10 a few months back... with that and the zoom cranked up I oughta be able to get some bad ass pics. My old camera didn't have on-board ram either... and was only 2MP. About the only good thing about that camera is that it was tough and it was cheap (free hand-me-down from dad!).

At any rate, can't wait for it to arrive. I'll probably use the 5.3MP setting on the camera... its the highest in the standard 3:2 ratio (for 4x6" prints etc) and at that res I can get 1100+ pics on the supplied 2GB memory card. w00t!

Im not a pro-photographer or anything, so this camera will be MORE than enough for what I do. I'll leave the bling lookin' pics up to Colby... I just wanna photo document my truggy build and vacations with my wife. :thumb:

I think that camera has a 8 or 10 second self timer. Now you can also be in all your Truggy and Vacation pics with your wife :thumb:

Stick: man, seeing those makes me want that package to get here that much sooner. sweet pics. If you tried taking that kind of pic with my old Kodak, all you'd get is a very dark grey blob on a black backround. ;)

As soon as it arrives, I'm gonna start snappin' pics! :thumb:

that'd be a good thing for vacation pics. Its not that both of us aren't in most of the pics I have.... its that they are ALL taken from the length of my arm. lol!!!! ;)

    god DAMN it.

My camera has started to go to crap on me. You turn it on, and it turns itself off after a second or two. Sometimes it lets you take a pic before dying... usually not. I have been waiting years to get Batman in the mail, and now I have him, and my POS camera ****ing dies. To make matters worse, I bought it 14 months ago... so its 2 months out of warranty. Kodaks repair estimate? $125. Price of a brand new Kodak z-series cam? $150. If you ship it to them and decide not to have them repair it due to cost reasons, it costs you a $48 fee. what the god damn ****?!?!!?!?

Yep digicams are kind of disposeable now.

I had the little closing door on an olympus start messing up. Out of warranty, sent it in and they want $139.00 to fix. So I will have them send it back unfixed and now I will have a cam for wheeling then go buy a new one for the kid. I can get a much better cam now for less than $200:mad:

well, some good news. It turns out that I bought the cam with my AmEx... and they offer warranty-doubling protection on purchases. I'm going to try to update the firmware, if that doesn't work... I'm callin' AmEx to see what they can do.

I hope they come through for you. It is had to justify repairing that if they won't. Good luck man.
