There was an ad in today's Fresno Bee for BFG MT's, same size, 80% for $300.

I have a set of Thornbirds. Seems I remember you saying you don't do much wheelin' off road. They look mean as hell but I heard they aren't the greatest mudd tire ever made.....

I Dont off-road, however I do play in the mud every now and then.....I'm looking for tires that handle well on the street, as the majority of the time will be spent on pavement, but also clean themselves pretty well if I do end up in a mud pit...(is that possible?)

    Just FYI,
I ran BFG M/T's for a couple years on my daily driver (93 Blazer) I thought they did very well in the mud and handled the road well too. If I recall I got about 30K miles on them easy, that was with occasional power braking and always being in the gas. I recomend them, if you run accross a pair that are close enough for ya! Good luck on your search!
