This is not a add to sell my truck!

I am just trying to decide if i would be better off parting it out or dumpin a few bucks into it and selling it at a fully running vehical

    specs on it now:
    1988 K5 silverado
    TBI Injection
crate motor with about 40k on it
    sm465 (needs a rebuild)
sm205 (was rebuilt about a year and a half ago)
14 bolt rear with 4.10 gears and limited slip
44 front with cross over steering and no locker
steering box taped out for hydro assist but ram not installed yet
can-back soft top a little over a year (including the 6 months i lost my licence and was parked inside during that time)
Brand new BFG 35" tires..less than 1500 miles on them
will all thos parts would i be able to clear about 5k for the whole truck?
if not..would i do better by parting it out?
i would hate to do that to my ex rig but just seeing how gas prices are latly i dont forsee alot of people jumpin at the chance to buy a rig that gets 7-9 mpg

to get it lookin better to sell i need to have the driverside seat fixed, change the pullys on the front of the motor over to serp set up(already had it just havent put it on yet), replace the carpet, get smogged and cat replaced, so a total of maybe $1000 in parts total to get it sellable...so what should i do..put a few bucks into it to get it lookin better to sell it outright or part it out? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

If you part it out, I would like a shot at the Can-Back. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I wouldn't put any more money into it, you probably won't get it back. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif You might try selling it like it is for a lesser amount. I guess it just depends on how fast you want to get rid of it.

I think your right about sitting on it for awhile. I don't know what the market is like out in CA, but here in ol Texas it is flooded with used cars and trucks. It would have to be someone looking for a K5 and willing to pay more for the extras you have done to it.

    Good luck. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Test the waters and run an add for the rig complete. For 5K if that is what you need.

    If it don't sell.......parts party!!

Thats tough, selling it for 5k is gonna be hard these days, it has some goodies on it, but it is not that far from stock that someone couldn't buy a stock Blazer and trick it out for less. Parting it out and clearing 5k would probably also be hard, no one wants to give you what something is worth, always want a deal.

Also, if you have to put 1000 into it to sell it for 5000, why not sell it gor 4000?

I second the sell it for 4k! I have never made money back off of putting money into a rig for sale. However if you want to get rid of it quicker, putting some money into it might do that.
