    Here's the VIN# 1GCGG35X2L7120836
When I run it says no such number....
My question is, if this is the first part of the vin, which numbers are the engine code, and what engine would this vehicle have? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Any websites for looking this stuff up would help /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

The 8th digit in a VIN is always the engine size(it's been this way since at least 84 /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif).....

Unfortunately, it looks like that VIN is bogus. You have an "X" in the 8th position. X is generally a check digit and is never used as an engine code.

    Sorry I couldn't help.

I think someone copied the vin wrong. 8th digit is the engine size.

The only engine codes that are acceptable with that vin are
    H which is a 5.0 liter V-8 FI / 3.9 L LH Diesel (4BDL)
    Z Which is a 4.3 liter V6 FI

    or

    K Which is a 5.7 liter V-8 FI

The K is the only one of the 3 that makes the check digit conform proper for the mathematical calculation of the Vin.

Here is the breakdown of the entire vin.

1 county of origin united states
    G manufacturer Chev General Motors
    C Vehicle Type Truck
G Gross Vehicle Weight 8001-9000 GVWR
    G Line Van 4 X 2
    3 Series 1 Ton Nominal
    5 Body Style Van
    K Engine 5.7 L V8 FI
    2 Check Digit
    L Year 1990
7 Assembly Plant Lordstown, Oh / Fujisawa, Japan
    120836 Sequence number.

    Hope this helps. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Looks like a 1 ton alright.

Most if not all 3/4t Vans had 5 lug hubs, and are basically undistiguisable from the 1/2tons.

The 1 tons sit higher and have the 8 lug set up.

Their is a VIN option for 4x4, Chevy didn't offer it, but you could get them built through Quigley as a factory option.
Any other 4x4 vans are most likey DIY type deals or Pathfinder conversions.

Now whats the deal with the roof on that thing?
