I'm in no hurry but sooner or later, I want a killer boat to hit the islands with and dodge hurricanes.
I have decided that the smoothest riding, best fuel economy boat would be a power cat or multi-hull type. I don't want one that is so heavy that I can't afford the gas but I'd like it big enough to live on (down the road).
It's tough to find one that meets way I want but here is a couple that I really like. If you have any ideas, let me know. used would be much cheaper.
    My favorite so far-

    My next choice

    A possible other choice-

and for those that just don't want to click, here is the first one

    So what do you think?
    I'm I freakin crazy?
Do you want to come fishing?
Should I invite the copper tone girls for a ride and you'll buy the beer? :D

ummmm...knowing what I know about boats (not all that much) you'd have to sell your house three times over to afford a cat that big.

I've seen some pretty nice trimarans that are sail and engine powered that would fit the bill as well.

I think I would look real hard at a sail boat. Gas aint going to get any cheaper At over $1000 a fill up and getting 2-maby 4 mpg with the right boat at cruise. Motor yahting can burn a lot of money in a hurry. But if you have plenty of money to burn. It would be fun :D

Sorry guys, I've been loading up a trailer all night to get ready for a big yard/barn sale tomorrow :tongue1:

Now, let me respond to all your replys-
    1st chevyfumes
I busted my arse my whole life, I bought homes that needed a lot of work, fixed them up and sold them for a good profit. The best one yet in the one under contract right now. To make a long story short, one of my customers with major bucks set me up with a deal that I couldn't refuse and now is the pay off. I found that is always good to be nice to people and take care of them because someday it might pay off, which it did.
Oh! and I'll still be working my asre off in the future.

    Please show me!

Ummm, I'm hollaring, any imfo would be great. ie best engines, boats, riding, most fuel efficent etc.

I think it might be time for a new job that pays better or find a women like mine that will give you a little extra push when needed. It sure helped me.
Sorry dude but I've been there. When we got married 25 years ago, we where living on food stamps and I was smoking cigarette butts out of the ash tray. We didn't have $hit.
Keep the faith and bust it, you'll make it.

For as much money as they want for the boat, the girl should be included at no extra charge, don't you think? :D :haha:

Have you seen my house I built and will be sold soon?

Just remember that even though I really like the 1st boat, I don't know how I could even come close to swing it unless I could find one that was used.
It's also cheaper that a house in some ways. I always want the best and that's why I built a K5 :D .
I'm no different then any of you except I've been pretty lucky.
I'm the kinda guy that just keeps going. My friends call me the energizer bunny. When I need to get something done, I will push myself as far as I can.
When I was building the Blazer, I worked for months straight from 6:00am until 1:00am everyday. You should have seen me building this house. One night I remember I came home at 6:00 am and my sister was over. She said "Your up early" and I said WTF? I'm just getting home :smirk: .
I think my batteries are starting to run down a bit now though.

Now back to the boat. Lets find some cool ones and whoever finds a better one then I can, I'll invite down to my boat to go fishing when I get it.
    Approximate spec's I'm looking for-
    Power Cat
30-40ft. long with at least a 12ft beam.
    Twin inboard deisels or gas.
    Two Births minimum
Inside and flying bridge (good view from inside)
Sweet setup inside (enough to be comfortable on a long cruise to the islands)
    Full electronics including auto pilot.
NOT to look like just a fishing boat!!
Full size head w/shower (well almost)
    Live well
    Windless
Good enough tanks for a trip
    $300,000 or less
    good size fridge for beer
    icemaker would be a plus
     anything I'm missing???

Oh, here is another one I tried out last summer but it was just to small and had really poor access to the bow for the Ol' lady
    http://www.motorcat.com/
I liked it but it was a bit tight.
    Help my out bros :1zhelp:

I know what your saying, I just don't think the two of us could handle it.
That's why I want the lightest cat I can find that still has reasonable comfort.
Some of them can get pretty darn good mileage if you take it easy.

You better be rock monkey! I may hit the next CK5 meeting, smash some faces, kick some of that nasty ass, make out with Can Can, shave Steve Fox's crotch, get arrested, save some souls, explode, skateboard, and generally exaggerate

Thanks but most of them don't give you the option for a power cat.
Lots of sail boats, just not power only.
I've found that there isn't very many to choose from around.
    Keep trying though.

have you checked out 2hulls? http://www.2hulls.com/salepower.html

i'll check with our broker on tuesday what they have available... we don't get a ton of big power cats in, but time to time...

from the ones i've seen, the ones with Cummins packages are pretty nice.. alot coming thru with Yanmars too...

Thanks Paul, Yes I have checked out 2-hulls and it seems to be a pretty good site to find one. It had some pretty good ones on there today.
I'm gonna leep looking to see what I can find.
The biggest problem is that most of the smaller ones have to narrow of a beam and look like fishing boats.
So how well do the Yanmars hold up? It seems like most of the cats come with them? I might just need to learn how to sail better and take the wife along too. Gas is a lot and although easy, if you can't afford to fill it, what good is it.
Take a look at one of the boats I'm considering when you get a chance and tell me what you think of it. It a PDQ Power cat 34 - http://www.pdqyachts.com/ver2/yachtsPower/startup/pagesPower/powerFrameSet.html
It seems to fit most of my needs and I've been on it and it's really nice.
Most seem under powered but fuel efficent for the size.
At 12,000 Lbs., it's not as heavy as most. Well, any other pointers would be appreciated.
