After driving Watson's rig on Sunday, I got to thinking how nice his dash layout was and might go that route when I get a cage built. Anyone else have a custom dash or ideas on how to still keep all the vents/heater etc..
It would be nice to redesign the dash with your needs in mind instead of what they thought you would need.

I think you have been looking at Stephen's Jimmy too much!

I like the in-cab snorkel also.

I may be kinda cheesy but it also looks kinda cool.....

I found this site the other day when looking for new dash gages:

    <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.dakotadigital.com/products/73-87ctruck.htm>http://www.dakotadigital.com/products/73-87ctruck.htm</A>

I'd like to hear from anyone that has installed these.....are they reliable, is the spedo programable for different size tires, and just general data for the install.

I wonder where the Formula 1 guys get there steering wheel displays. That would be cool as hell in a blazer. Then you could mount all kinds of pyrometers, fuel/air meters, gps unit, etc.. in your guage area. Even a mini-fridge!!!!!

    Steve, Steve, Steve....

    Something like this?
    http://www.off-road.com/4x4web/features/1998/11/

I'm happy with the stock dash. Maybe some Autometer guages in the stock bezel eventually.

I think it would be awesome to make one out of diamond plate or stainless steel. All you would really need would be a sheet of it, with a bend in it, and you could cut out holes for gauges. I can't explain it well, but have an awesome picture in my head.

For a daily driver (actually nightly driver) a diamond plate or aluminum dash is not recommended. My buddy made a sheet metal dash in his B#onco to match the one in his strickly stock race car and evertime he went under a streetlight or light at a weird angle he was blinded by the reflection. Just thought you would like to know. It sucked at night, but looked cool as He!! during the day.

If you didn't built it yourself, how can you call it yours.......?

Ok, that prerunner dash is really nice, I wish I could figure out how to have that many switches in mine! Part of me still gets into the airplane cockpit look. I kind of averted a lot of that by keeping the stock controls for the wipers and headlights, they both have a too many features to run on individual switches. But, I'm getting to where I like to have a switch for the motor and that's all. Nothing to mess up.
I could also use some more room between the seats, I once had a console there, then had illusions of at least having cup holders or a radio or something, but there's too many brake and transfer case controls in there now.
I'll try to post some dash pics in the next couple of days.

STEPHEN!!! Please do us all a favor and post pics of your interior. And since Steve drove your rig, does that mean we can all take a test drive? I'd be more than happy to drive up there from south Texas just so that I may "test" your rig!
Regarding the post on the diamond plate, I have also been kicking up the same idea. I'm probably going to do it, but I'm trying to find out the best way and want to do it so it won't look cheesy.

Stephen, Please please please, post some pics of your interior dash. If you could from all angles that would be great. Even from the drivers seat as we would see it if we were sitting behind the wheel. Even down where you have it either bolted or welded to the chassis. Thank you so much man.... btw, that entire TC EZ ride suspension, shackle flip, greaseable poly mounts, steering brace and weld in plate, longer stronger shackles, etc.... are all doing GREAT!!!

    Thanks a million man

I've been looking at these for awhile now. Here are a few, mostly F**ds, but that's mostly what they race and prerun. Same principle applies.

Dude[IMG]! I had finally gotten over watsons dash...But NO you had to go a bring up this post and make me look at more pics![IMG] Well looks like custom dash here I come[IMG]!

I'll tell you one Idea that my 79 Dodge p/u had that was ingenius! The fuse box was in the dash. The right half of the dash folded down to show the steel and the fuse box and the glove box were in there. You could buy another fuse box and call painless for like an extension to plug in the one on the floor and hide the whole thing behind a panel!
