Pretty sure the 3/4 tons have a D44 (older) or 10bolt (newer) front axle. The 1-tons have the D60.

Check out Chucks Chevy Truck Pages which have a ton of useful info.

If you look at the top of the page there is a link that says "Specifications." That page has all the specifications for K5s. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif Anything you could need to know is there (well maybe not everything, but close /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

BTW, the 3/4 ton stuff would be stronger. Very simple swap too.

Thanks RatMan I looked up there but didn't see it at first and funny thing is, that is where I found it to begin with...I am looking to find something like that for the old mans truck so I can find out what he has in his /forums/images/graemlins/truck.gif. not sure exactly what it is, just know it is an '86 3/4 ton Chevy pickup. K20 I think?

WRONG! dremu called it, 3/4 tons come w/ a D44 or a 10B front. The change over happened in the years surrounding 1980. Please don't make a costly mistake or encourage others to do so.

Good money has it that it is a 14 bolt rear and the 3/4 ton version of the 10 bolt up front. not a bad combo at all.
