Find the circuit clerks website for your county. Some counties have links where you can check, some dont. I know Champaign county will let you look up anyones history.

some states havea privacy policy. in order to get a backround check you have to have an employment app and some times even an authorize letter from the person. some states require a business liscence. the best thing to do is ask you local(so you are screwed since you live in the boonies.) police department if they know anything.

some online places are out there, but costly and not always accurate.

It's public record. Go to the county court house and ask for the records on such person. I belive there is a fee, last I knew, it was $15.00 where I used to live.

You can try here and here for a state level criminal background check, as far as a federal level background check I think you 'll need to be a Govermental agency or an Airline. I know those can take up to a month to complete, Might call a private investigator for info.

cool, that was gonna be my next question; finding out about federal level search. sounds like probably something citizens cant do readily.
oh and this would be a search on someone not in the same state as where the person wanting to do the search lives, and might evne span across several states depending on where all the person has been in the past, in which is why it would need to be federal level search

    hmm..

    thanks

I'll tell you an easy way to find out about Federal records. Make a friend that works at a prison in the Visitation Department. They have access to the NCIC (National Crime info Center) computer to check the records of potential visitors. Now all you need is a friend..........
