Loud Bang on Startup...help

Discussion in '1973-1991 K5 Blazer | Truck | Suburban' started by **DONOTDELETE**, Feb 1, 2001.

I tried to start the K5 this morning and all I got was two loud bangs like metal to metal. Tried it again and it hesitated but started up. Is the starter going out, or is this something worse?

Check your starter gear or flywheel for missing teeth. Are all the cylinders firing?

My s-10 I HAD did that.. cost me 450 bucks for a new flywheel installed...
Hope it's not that for your sake.. check the teeth on the starter first.. Look for ground teeth... and feel around for metal fillings...

Um... yes officer I know it's too big...
