loud thump sound coming from rear

    evertime I hit the gas I get this thump....like boom! sound coming from the back of my truck ,also when i'm stopping..what the hell is it? any info will help. thanks.

    Check your spare tire. Maybe rolling around, just a guess.

    Had same problem a couple of years ago. Pinion gear was loose. I could move it around by hand.

    Always check universal joints first. If one is shot, you are lucky. If you are not lucky, you have SLOP in your rearend. Make sure that it's not something stupid rolling around in the bed. Also, check wheel bearings......It's sad, but I've actually seen 12 bolt wheel bearing so worn out I could jiggle the axle.

    how do i fix the pinion gear if it's loose...

    <font color=blue> Is it your sub box ? Seriously, Check your u-joints or your pinion.
