    Lower range gear\'s for 205

I've read in a Magazine, that some company is in the process of making lower gear's for the 205 T-Case.

Has Anyone heard rumor's of this, or have any idea Who, and when it will happen? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

ORD is not the shop that is actually making them. They're just hooked up with the guys that say they can do it. But so far, the only product has been VaporWare. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I have always wondered why it is so hard to make lower gears for a 205, but they can do like 6:1 for suzuki's /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Wagoner makes 3:1 for the NP203... I know most guys are using it with a Doubler, but why not use the 203 by itself? (part-time kit if necessary).

205 is stronger, smaller and lighter than a 203. Is all gear driven unlike the 203 which has a chain, and also have heard that a 203 converted to part-time will not last as long...but I dunno for sure on that.

If you regularly put the converted 203 into 4WD it will be fine. It is the lack of oiling that kill them.
There is not much room inside the 205 case for lower gears.

Or more to the point, that's why there is "Doubler".

The fact you can get either an Atlas or do the doubler is probably why a low range set for the 205 hasn't come out yet.

Re: Lower range gear\'s for 205

no, the reason is that there is not enuff room to even machine the case. the 203 3.1 case is machined to hell to get it to fit and there is more room in a 203 than a 205.

"smaller, lighter and compact" as others have pointed out as a positive of the 205 is its downfall for lower gear sets

We blew the part-time gears right out of the housing. Made off the dunes in front wheel only. That was my brother in-laws truck. I ran a '203 in my firt truck, never ran one since.
