This guy told me that my lugnuts were on wrong... that the pointed side should be touching the wheel... is this right? or is he full of it? Cause i had a reputable shop put my axles/tires/wheels on and im sure thye wouldnt overlook something like that... (?)

I have always been told and used the pointed side in. It is the way I have always seen them and used them. The point starts to go into the lug hole and centers everything up I assume.

Also, the lug nuts I use now are the acorn style, and they have a point built into them, and they only go on one way so the point goes in.

Yup. The beveled end should point towards the wheel. This keeps the rim in the proper position and also stops the rim from riding on the wheel studs.

Unless maybe both ends of your lug nuts are beveled..... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

yeah the tappored in goes towords the wheels. This centers them and tightens them up. If you look at the accorn style they have tappored ends too.

Whichever end of the lug has the taper on it.....thats the end that goes towards the wheel. If you have open lugs, and both ends are tapered, then go with whatever end looks like a 45 degree bevel.
