I am interested in the M101 trailers that are pulled behind Deuce and a halfs. They are about as wide as my Blazer and they would look extremely stout. I called Boyce equipment adn they told me about a surplus company that carries them. Has anyone used trailers like this. Any tips? Any tips? I currently have a pintle hitch on my blazer so that won't be a problem. They are about $500 depending on the condition. Your helps is appreciated.

I've seen jeeps with that little bantam willys trailer and they look cool. I've been to military truck shows and seen the M101 trailer and man it would be awesome for backcountry wheeling and camping. Anyone know if the Humvee trailers will ever be for sale?

I am tossin around the idea of haveing all my camping gear & firewood in a utility trailer so that when I get to were I'm going I can just unhitch the trailer at basecamp and go wheelin with out unloading everything onto the ground......

Hey, I spelled it right... I think. Pintle hitch is the type of hitch that the military and heavy trucks use. It consists of a (for military) a clamp looking hitch. It closes like a mouth. This part is mounted to the truck. The trailer part of the hitch has a circle. It actually is quite a neat set up. The military uses it so the trailer does not flip over the truck in off camber situations. Instead the trailer will flip and then you have to fix it. He he.

the m103 is very similar to the m101 but the M101 has acutal sides and a tailgate. It can be rigged with a cover also

I'm sure a pintle hitch setup would works with a modified piece of reciever tubing connected to the pintle itself. I know that several companies offer this hitch for reciever hitches.
Boyce is in Ogden, Utah which I think is near Salt Lake City (way far from Moab).
I would call Boyce at 1800-748-4269 and ask about the M101 trailer. They know who does have them if they don't carry them. The other place that had them the last time I called was actually in Utah also. If you've seen this trailer you know its super stout. Boyce also sells tires for them and I'm sure any spare parts. They even come with parking brakes. LEt me know what you turn up

I want one that has the 8 lug hubs because I will lift it and run the same tires and wheels as the Blaze.

Talked to my fabricator - he said $1500-1600 for what I am talking about. Drawing some pics right now.

Still want to see some pics from Boyce - checked the site to no avail....

Is a 2.5' - 2.75' trailer tongue long enough for a trailer that is
4'W x 6'L ? (4' bed, 6' outer tire)

Do we have a trailer section I should be posting in?

That's what I did. I got a decent 5x8 utility trailer. Then I took it one step further. I built 24 inch tall walls and got a long bed camper shell and made it into a camper. The camper shell has screens so no problem with the bugs. I put a roof rack bar on the back with extensions so my 11x11ft canopee attaches to it.
It is about 4 inches taller than the truck going down the road. The inside I have 5ft 6 inches of clearence. I made a bed frame ot of a 2x4 and some peices of 3/4 ply. I grab the spare twin matress from the kids trundle and sleep great!
Looking for a small window air conditioner at garage sales. My club camps in some places where power is available. So might as well sleep comfortable. I'm putting a Battery on it to run a couple interior lights and a 12v fan. I will have a cable to charge it off the truck as I'm going down the road. BigJBear, Keith, Boss and Depdog saw it at Dixie run. It's RedNeck delux [IMG]

Just some added info: the M101 series trailers are 3/4 ton. The were designed to be towed behind M715 (Kiaser pick-up), M880 (Dodge pick-up) and CUCVs. The later versions M101A2 had surge brakes and CUCV eight lug wheels & tires. Jeeps (M151 being the last) used a 1/4 ton trailer, I forget the nomenclature.

Our unit has been doing Modification Work Orders converting M101A2 trailers to M101A3 HMMWV configuration (technically M116A3 one ton!). Changes include a wider bed, raised "hump" axle, new brake system, and HMMWV radial tires/wheels.

The M-101 trailer comes in many version's they are used behind humvee's, the duece's trailer is a larger version with air brake's. I know they are for sale at DRMO on most installation's. I personally don't like this style of trailer since I have towed them from the desert, to the mountains of kosovo, to include some jaunts on the auto bahn. They don't track well, there suspension is so stiff (they are rated at 1 1/4 ton's for the hummvee version) that they are prone to tipping over. There brakes are a inertia setup that rarely work right. Maintenance is pretty straight forward and most have been upgraded with radial tires. this is just my biased .02 cents from being in the army for quite a long time.

I pulled one of those around for two years, but then, I was in a deuce and a half at the time. I did not even know it was there most of the time. But backing up was a bitch. My spotter was a retarded platoon sargent who couldn't even read a map.
