I use my 2 D cell Maglite every night, and it seems like I'm always buying batteries for it, which gets expensive, and they go dead when I need them the most. I currently use Duracell batteries. Is there any good LED lights that will have the output of a Maglite? It still needs to have the skull-crushing ability of a Maglite. Are the rechargable Maglites any good? I would have to get the 12V adapter. http://www.maglite.com/product.asp?psc=RECHARGE&pt=R They are expensive, but it may save money because I wouldn't have to always buy batteries.

I use whatever I can get my hands on. When I have to buy batteries, they're usually Energizer.

Some seem a little pricey, but over the long run I think they might be worth the $.

Duracells. 5 at a time. I hate to turn it on at all.

If you want rechargeable, check out a Streamlight Stinger.

I keep Duracells in my Maglights. I used to get cheep, no names when my wife worked for a sporting-goods wholesaler. After I lost my my six D cell Mag to leaking, cheep bats I quit using them.

Gotta chime in on the LED light. I use mine every night and the batteries last for weeks.

I used to use Duracell or Energizer and saw no difference, but I had Chuck Norris lay hands on my maglite and it's never needed batteries since.
