Im gonna make a smoker this weekend as the title says, and I am playing around with a couple of ideas.

If you got some pics or can take some pics, lets see em.

    EDIT:
Also what type of heat source do you use? Electric, Charcoal, wood embers?

You can search on the web for a lot of different designs, try www.smokering.net, they have some pretty cool ideas and lots of links. I have never built one but I'd love to, I use my smoker all the time.

As far as heat, I am a firm believer in mix of charcoal and wood, or just straight natural charcoal (Lazzari is the only decent brand I've found). I just can't justify electric to myself though, seems unnatural.

Let me know if you get it done and want any recipes, I cook brisket, chickens, ribs, roasts all the time in mine.

I've been looking at a charcoal smokers. K-Mart has a combo charcoal grill and smoker for under $100.00 that I might buy next spring.

K-Mart has been outlawed in Canada. I miss K-Mart.

    I blame Michael Moore...

And Zellers because they bought the Canadian franchise.

I have a freind who made on out of an old metal refrigerator. he had a small woodchip and charcoal smokebox in the bottom of the smoker. it drew air in from the bottom and then there was a chimney that came out the back near the top. so basically he would lay his ribs on the racks in the fridge and start going to town. it was really cool. the fridge was kind of rounded with a latching handle on the front. it worked really well too.

I have an old wood stove that I am thinking of using for the smoke production, then have it go up the chimney into a metal garbage can with a grate in it. then just put a 4" metal duct as a chimney on the lid.
