I just did these.. lets see what you guys come up with:

    1. A Parcel of land is in the shape of an isosceles triangle. The base has a length of 425 feet, the other sides which are of equal length, meet at an angle of 39* degrees. How long are the sides?

    2. Two airplanes leave Kennedy airport in New York at 11AM. The air traffic controller reports they are traveling away from each other at an angle of 103* degrees. The DC-10 travels @ 509mph and the L-1011 travels at 503mph. How far apart are they at 11:30 AM? 12:00 AM?

    #2) 11:30, 396.004131 miles apart
    12 NOON, 792.008261 miles apart

These are just applications of the law of Sines and Cosines.

    I got...

    2) 396.004 miles @ 11:30am, 792.008 miles @ 12:00 noon and 10296.108 @ 12:00 midnight (because midnight is normally denoted as 12:00am, trick question? /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif).
