Well today my daughter and I spent some quality time together and went to the Airshow to watch the Blue Angels fly. It was kinda ****ty this morning cold, drissly rain, just all around ****ty. We got there around 0830 and the gates to the show opened at 0800 but due to the rain not many people were there. We got rained on, then the clouds broke the sun came out and by 1200 the grandstand was packed and there were freaks everywhere:eek1:. My daughter had blast and I enjoyed the time spent with her also. Now on to the pics. Forgive the quality they were taken with my 2.0 Megapixel Olympus:o. But it has a zoom feature.:D

I was amazed at how big a B1B really is.

I thought these beadlocks were cool. They had 325/65/16 michelins on them:D

And these are 3 planes together not sure of the old jet and the prop plane but the third is a F-18.

An F-18 close to the speed of sound. I was a little slow on the shutter but you can just make out the vapor around the plane as it approaches Mach 1. You can see how ****ty the weather was in this pic.

And now for the US NAVY's Blue Angels:D

The first one is Fat Albert on approach. They pitched down to simulate a mountainous landing they were about 500 Ft of the deck when they pitched it down.

    And now the Angels.

mmm I love the sound of freedom

They have any of the bones flying? Those are freakin loud.

Random B-1 fact of the day: Their engines are mounted on rails, and can easily be unbolted and slid out the back ;)

    What are the bones?

They had a P-51 Mustang that I did not get a picture of. Man I love the sound of that V-12 Merlin 1600HP on takeoff:D.

OOPS should have been able to figure that one out:D. They did not fly this time but the last airshow I went too in 2004 they flew one in the night show and it was badd azz. They blacked it out on the run way and did a full afterburn take off it was pretty sweet with 40 ft of blue flame out of all 4 engines. They also did a subsonic flyby with full afterburn during that show. It was one of the loudest things I have ever heard:D

yeppers, them B1s have some serious thrust. Cool plane. It'd be almost impossible for any nations air defense to stave off a B1 attack. All it has to do is get within cruise missile range... fire them all off and turn-n-burn. Not much you can do, unless you can shoot down cruise missiles or you have air patrols waaay outside your boarders to try to stop them.

good to see the Marines there. I had many many rides in CH53s and CH46s.
