Well we made it home after 300miles and 7 hours on the road pullin' the camper with the General. Damn it's hot here on the plains!!

I can't believe it after all that clamoring for an easy trail after OCG, there were only 3 of us on this nice trail.

This is by far one of the most scenic trails I've been on. I was very impressed. I've spent time on the trail immediately behind the Dunes a few times before, but never all the way to Medano.

James, you missed getting to see Mike bang on his hub again. This time with a Cresent wrench instead of a hammer.:wink1:

Saturday night and Sunday on the trail it was 3 on the tree, B_to_C & his friend Ed, and MrK5 & family. Mike didn't camp with us Sunday night; he had to be back to work Monday.

Here's some pics of the Great Sand Dunes Nat'l Park.

From our campground at San Luis Lake:

Saturday afternoon we just played in the sand and water with Liam.

I decided to try to conquer the 100'+ sand dune.

Nick spies Scott taking a breather, "Ahoy matey, I'll show you how's it's done!"

Mike couldn't be out done by the youngsters, Mike, Nick, & Scott:

What trail run would be complete without Nick doing this:

Wish I could play hookey. I'm doomed for the rest of the summer. Gotta love those 40's. Nick's truck looks great.

Definately a trail I want to do. Just a little more than a day run:confused:

I want to go back again in a couple of years when the bun in the oven is a couple of years old. There were some really cool camping sites between the dunes and Medano Pass along the trail in the Preserve part of the park. It would be a lot of fun to camp there and there was room for several tents.

I also noticed a few trails on the topo map that went around the other side of the dunes. It would be fun to go back and spend another day there exploring those trails, too.

Geez, I have to wait for 2 years to go on this trip! I'm green with envy. I'm sure glad you had a great time. :):) "Cricket" I take it your not going to make the run this weekend. :(:( Hey Scott you should be used to the cooler temps and then move over here in the furnace! :):) I'm panting just like our poodle.

WAH Wah, :(:( I told you it was just like being married to a dairy herd. To bad it can't rain a little to help you out.

Well, how long do you think it's been since the last time? It was before Liam was born and he'll be 3 in August.

Lordy time flies whether or not one is having fun. :):) Just so everyone knows we moved to Montrose last weekend. I will start my new job on Monday June 19th. Still running one of those evil concrete mixer trucks, but at least for more money. See you all in my dust! :)

He's exaggerating a little. They only moved into a temporary rental until the house in BV is sold. Half their stuff is still there, but at least Mom's new employer is paying to move that.

Right now, Dad doesn't have Internet access. He has to sneak off to the library to get on CK5.

Nice thing is it is cool in the Library and I'm not getting webbed feet like some we know. Sides that I can hang out with the homeless looking for a place to cool off also.

I'm sure on Monday afternoon I'll be dragging my arse around questioning my small amount of sanity. Wondering why I ever agreed to leave those cool mountains.:wink1: :wink1:

I'm looking forward to getting to Marblem just to cool off.
