I do free lance photography and over the last have gotten into a lot more then ever before. I have a decent camera and some nice lenses. However even with this I have a hard time getting close enough sometimes. Does anyone know about how I could go about applying for a media or press pass? I sell pictures here and there but nothing major. Mostly my taking pictures is for people like they need portraits and etc.... I'm not looking to simply be up front at concerts, sporting events and other things... I really just want to be able to take pictures and have the right view to get something decent. So does anyone have any idea about this? I'm getting tired of getting crap shots because I have to compete with morons walking in front of me when I try to take a shot.... thanks!

I'll ask around when I get to work today. My business has some use of press credentials, so I'll find out how they got them.

Just wear a trenchcoat with a funny hat, and tuck a little piece of paper in the hat that says "press"

You could chase your people down on a motorcycle and follow them around. /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

go to the library and be sure to take a note pad and pen, there is a book, uhm memory lapse, anyway its about where to sell photos, librarian should know the exact name, they list a lot of places in los angeles and there might even be some web sights too, stock photo places, they can get you the press credentials, i used to do that, photo nut /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif

Really? I use stock photo right now and they never told me anything... that's how I sell a few here and there. Maybe I need to call them and ask them what the deal is and if they can get me something. Thanks.... /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Usually the organizers of that particular event are responsible for coordinating who
gets press/media credentials. I'd check with them first.
