I am a lover of all music. I listen to everything from time to time. My mainstays have been country and clasic rock. Skynyrd rules! But I really want to listen to more metal. I had listened o a bit here and there and even one band in particular while I was in Iraq that I cannot remember the name of. I know to the untrained ear you cannot hear what they say and also sing about the midevil period I believe. They have some awesome drum/guitar solos I do know that. Anyone have any clue who they may be?

Also what are some good metal bands? I need to get a cd collection going. then get the ipod setup for the car and an ac adapter so I can use my laptop again :waytogo: then I can :saweet: in one of my rides :D

I'm not sure who you mean, but here's a list of my recommended metal bands, in order of best to last

    Slayer
    Sepultura
    Hatebreed
    Mastodon
    Amon Amarth
    KillSwitch Engage
    Lamb of God
Any Metallica BEFORE Justice for All
    Biohazard
    Anthrax

    That's a start anyways.

Just gonna run down a bit of my Winamp PLaylist see if any ring a bell:

    Children of Bodom
    Arch Enemy
    White Zombie(you'd likely know that)*
    Soilwork*
    Superjoint Ritual
    Dimmu Borgir(really not a fan)
    Shadows Fall
    Killswitch Engage
    In Flames
    Mudvayne*
    Taproot
    Sevendust
    Lacuna Coil
    Spineshank*
    Slipknot
    Scars of Life

Any of those could be completely unintelligible to most :D I marked my tops with asterisks. Really can't place the idea of medival(proper spelling ;) ) lyrics.

I like the old stuff, very little new stuff out there that isn't some dude screaming gutterly into the microphone.

    Iron Maiden (Powerslave and before)
    Ronnie James Dio
    Megadeth
    Metallica (Black album and before)
    Monster Magnet
    Exodus
    Misfits (Original members-Glenn Danzig era)
    Danzig (first four albums)
Judas Priest (Screaming for Vengeance and before)
    AC/DC (Bon Scott)

Probably a whole lot more, but my brain ain't working at full tilt right now.

    John

You need to look around more. All the bands I listed, none of them do that(except Dimmu and I don't like them because of it).
