If you mean MetalliCa then yeah 15 yrs ago they were killer. Its been down hill since Black. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Garage Inc was decent, but the rest has sucked IMO. /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

If you havent heard any old school Metallica, go back to Master of Puppets, Kill'em All, Ride the Lightning, and (if you can find it) Metal Up Your Ass. Back when they still had nads. /forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif

If ya mean Metallica, they have gone way down hill. I think AC/DC is the last great rock band still alive. All the rest of them are gone into the archives of what used to be great.

    HELL YA!!
Metallica does kick a$$! I am looking forward to June 10th. That is when the new album St. Anger is released. I've seen them 3 times and hope to see them on tour this summer!!!!

I guess it depends on how you look at it. If you're talking about Hard Rock acts, they're probably in the top ten. However, I can think of quite a few bands/artists that are more musically talented and have had more of an influence overall:

    -Jimi Hendrix
    -The Who
    -Rush
    -The Rolling Stones
    -Led Zepplin

If you want to rate Metallica as #1, even in Hard Rock/Metal, you have to compare them to such acts as:

    -AC/DC
    -Iron Maiden
    -Guns and Roses
    -Van Halen
    -(Early)Megadeth
    -Def Leppard
    -Kiss

Metallica has put out some relatively good product in their time, but in my opinion they are pretty far from "the best band in the history of the world".

A local radiostation played like 4 hours of Metallice on New Years Eve In SLC. What other band has that much interesting material (besides the Stones I guess)? I still like the new stuff too, but thats because I'm getting old like they are /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Kind of depends on how you look at.

AC/DC pretty much sounds the same throughout time, though their sound rocks!

Iron Maiden, though good, I don't think they had "it."

Guns and Roses was tripped up by that a**hole Axl. They were onto something.

Megadeth I think suffered from Dave Mustaine. I never could get used to them.

Def Leppard I think was kind of gay sounding.

    KISS rocked.

I agree with most of your points, however nobody can deliver spitting staccato lyrics like Dave Mustaine. And dissing Maiden??? It's a good thing you were already going to hell....../forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

My point was that any of these bannds could give Metallica a run for the money in their heyday.
