Man, I'm so stoked! A friend and I were about to buy a 78 Trans Am for parts for my 75 and his 78, but the guy sold it when we went to pick it up. We drove around looking for another one for parts(at work - on the clock, haha) and he remembered seeing a 76 a few years back. We went over there and the guy said he wanted $200 for it! It needed a new carb, passenger side front quarter panel, and shaker, but the motor had been rebuilt(400), it had a new exhaust system, an extra set of headers, a good body and frame, and the interior was decent. All I have to do is replace the quarter, drop a carb on it, and tinker with it a little to get it going! I'm going to mothball my 75 project and finish this 76, since the 76 is closer to being complete than the 75. I'm going to go down there today and try and finalize the plans. Man, this car is BADASS! It's dark burgundy/maroon with the Firehorn red interior. Man, I can't wait! Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Hey lowlevell. Didn't know you sold your 79. That's too bad. At least you've got a few spares. Haha. That's sweet about that 78! How long have you had that one? I still can't believe that the guy only wants $200 for it. I about fell over when they guy told me the price. I'm going to put my 75 away in storage and finish the 76 and drive it a little. My fiancee doesn't want me to get it, I mean REALLY doesn't want me to get it. She flipped out when I told her. Gotta see if I can break her down a little.

Here are a few pictures of it. I should have brushed off the pinestraw before I took the pictures, but I didn't. The car looks better in person than these pictures show. Here they are:

What do you mean, "still wants"? Um.... WTF are you waiting on?:) I wasnt upset about selling the 79'. I have the 78' now:) That 76 you are looking at looks like its sunk in pretty good. check the rear rails before you go neutral dropping it..... later.

P.S. GL trying to find a shaker. Thats one extra part i dont have yet.... take care man.

Haha, I know what you mean, bud. It's always good to have another car when you sell one.

That 76 isn't really sunk in. The front tires are flat, so that's why the front is so low. The guy's yard is covered in pine needles, so there are a lot of those around. The guy has so many needles there that he bales them and makes a killing selling them to landscapers. The reason the car looks so sunk in is that the pinestraw has collected around the car. You can get under there and look at it and it is really clean. The subframes don't even have surface rust on them! It is extremely clean under there. I'll find out tomorrow what is happening!

What, you can't stand the suspense? Haha. I talked to the guy last night. He was a pretty nice guy and his last name was McQueen so I trust him with a car. Haha. He said he was looking to get $400 for it, but I'm going to take $300 cash and see what I can do. He said the reason he parked it was that the dented fender scrapes the tire and he sold the carb to a friend. He sia dit was a race car when he got it. It's got a race motor(it's supposed to be a 400, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a 455 because the engine isn't Corporate Blue, but Pontiac metallic blue), a blueprinted race tranny, a new exhaust system(stock exhaust, but he has the headers and stuff he took off of it) and he said the only rust is in one of the doors. I'm going out there tomorrow with the cash and he's going to meet me there with the title. This thing is MINE!

Hey, I think you love me just for my car. Haha.

Well, I was waiting for the guy to call but he never did. He said he might not be able to meet up on Saturday, so I understand. I'm going to talk to him tomorrow and see if we can work out a time. Hopefully we can find a time this week sometimewhen both my dad and I can make it out there so I can show him that it really isn't in all that bad of shape. You better believe my checkbook is going out there with me. You better believe that I'll be posting in-depth photos and hopefully some burnout pics when I get the car! Sorry to keep you in suspense, bud!

UPDATE........the car is mine! I just put $200 on it and am going to pay the rest when I get my next paycheck. I'm going out there today to check the motor and make sure it isn't siezed. If it is, then I'm going to offer the guy a little less and see what happens. I don't wanna pay $400 for a car that doesn't run. Man, does that make me sound like a cheapskate?

I was jsut over at the guys house giving him the rest of the $400. He said that he put a blueprinted 400 in it and a blueprinted transmission. He said that he had the 160mph speedo buried before! I can't wait to get this thing running!

nice. keep us posted with lots of PICS!! (a must for those of us who dont find $400 T/A's every week.)

I found a dude in the paper with a 78 T/a for 495 bucks. Its running, but probably rough around the edges. I also found all sorts of guys around here with assorted parts.......

I need someone to remind me that i dont have time or $$ for another project right now.....

Yeah, man - there will be pics! I gotta try and find my digital camera first. I'm gonna take some regular pics and scan them, but that might take a little while.

That 78 sounds sweet. You should jump on that deal. You could always sell it for more than you paid. Then you'd have the money to play around with!

I would seriously jump on this deal if i wasnt in debt to 2 (count 'em, 2) Colleges right now. Not only am i paying for tthe college im at right now (and trying not to fall behind, I Doo wanna go back next semester) But i also owe several thousand to Temple U which i attended for only one year.[IMG]

If I only owed $$ to one, That thing would be at my house yesterday. Im sure I could make my mom realize how cool it willbe...
