Saw in summit today that a Milemarker 9000 lbs winch is $500, anyone know of a better price? If not sounds like that will be my winch. $50 for a roller fairlead but thats still cheaper than any other 9000 I've seen.

Ha, $500 plus $50 for a fiarlead, pay $50 more and you can get the 12k one with a fairlead, and it's a much better winch ( I have one )

I have hear both sides on the MM I was thinking of gettig one to but just wasn't sure. I got a catalog from norther tool and they have a Ramsey version of that winch Ramsey 8500E for $399. I would rather buy a slow ramsey over a slow MM as far as electric goes.
    My .02 though

wow, i wonder how long that winch will be on sale? I would much rather have a slow ramsey than a slow MM as well.

The catalog I have says good till Feb 15. That winch comes with Ramsey's lifetime warrenty and an optional 3 year everything warrenty. They have all the specs on their site Ramsey Winch I compared it to a patriot 9500 (the only one I have seen in action repeatedly so far, thanks Robzilla /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif) It is half as fast and pull a rated 5 fpm at 8500lbs and 15 fpm at no load. The patriot pulls at 8 fpm at 9500lbs and 35 fpm at no load. Half the price for half the speed, I'll take it. It is also $450 with free shipping directly from ramsey. I'm gonna get one.

I paid $610 for my MM E-12000. It has 3/8 cable (100 feet of it) and while not as fast at 6.5 vs 9 fpm that the Ramsey has, it only uses a 5/16" cable.

I personally wanted 3/8 cable reguardless of what winch I chose.

Ya I wanted 3/8 cable too. I looked at the MM and wondered how they are getting 100+ feet of 3/8 on the drum when ramsey and warn only get 95 feet of 5/16 on the drum. There has to be something funny about that. Also depends where the cable is made, a cheap india made 3/8 is weaker than a quality 5/16. I want a synthetic rope anyway so I will probably sell the cable.

Ya he got a new one (freebie!!) they changed the motor location along with the solonoid. The major change was the body overlaps the drum edge so now no more pop crack "damn" /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
