In another 400 miles my blazer will have 300,000 miles on it. Can you believe that. This old 73 blazer was bought by my parents in Decemeber of 1972 and since then we have had 7 engines in it 3 tranny's and 2 rearends but we have had a great time with it. My parents gave me the blazer last year and this thing is rusting apart but I can't get rid of it. So what kind of miles do you guys have on your Blazer-Jimmy's.

I've got 156,000 on mine. Everything has been replaced but the engine and radiator. It is rusting apart, the motor make sterrible noises and the cv joint is going out, but the thing still gets me around! By the way, 7 engines in 300,000 miles seems like a lot of engines to me!!!!

I got a 79 K5 with 265000 on it...third engine (40K on this one at present)...4 trans (350TH)...2 Transfer cases (203)...3 rears (12B...damn gov-locs)...original 10B front rebuilt awhile ago...complete brakes about 50K...second interior...not a rip or tear in the uphostery, but could use carpet...has never been repainted OR washed other than to get the majority of the mud off...it's sorta like my big fat girlfriend...It's ugly, and I'm ashamed of it....but it's just too good to get rid of...(make me an offer)...JD

I just bought my K5 about 8 weeks ago with 122000 and it now has almost 125000 on it and in the first 3 weeks of owning it I've put a trans and radiator in it. I may be new in the K5 game, but I love it and the information from you all on this site, so thank you all!!!

We are starting from scratch...getting a new enigne and a new transmission ... she doesn't get much milage unless you count rolling her in and out of the garage!

It's better to have it and not need it. Than to need it and not have it !

Well the first engine lasted 100,000 miles the second 350 lasted 60,000 miles and the last 350 lasted around 50,000 miles until we thought we need more power and in went the 427. That lasted awhile but had over heating problems so we stuck in a bone stock 454 out of a carpices with 75,000 miles on it and we ran that for about 5 years until it wouldn't pass emissions and then we had a 396 laying around and it was a big pouch. So last winter the 396 came out and the Caddy 500 went in and that is the best engine out of all of them so far. So that is why 7 engines. Did I say that my mother is hard on engines. HAHA. Did I mention that the blazer is 5 months older that me. [IMG]

76,000 miles on an original 72. Even still has the original brake pads/shoes, and the stickers on the brake drums from manufacturing. God I love saying that!

over 225k on the 75 is my guess and not really sure on the 79. Odometer shows 79k so my guess is 279k. Since I have had it I put in what I guess is engine 3 and tranny 3. Rebuilt the axles, resaled the power steering box and replaced the pump and did some work on the case. Drive line wise it has under 20k or so since all that stuff was done. Wouldn't think twice about hoping in it and drive a couple thousand miles other than I need to rebuild the drive shafts. Looking at redoing the paint and interrior next.

I have 145,000 on my recently purchased '89 K5. It has the original engine...runs strong with good compression, original 700R4 with a shift kit...works great per test drive by my local trans shop, original NP241 Xfer case and the corp 10 bolt rear was rebuilt by a chevy dealer just before I bought it. I'm very happy with my purchase.
I might mention I saw a '90 or '91 Jimmy on the freeway yesterday that was pure stock and so flawless, it looked like it just roll out of a dealers showroom.

225,000 on the wife's '90 Suburban. Original 241, 5th 700r4, 2nd engine (first one was still going strong at 218,000 miles till a lower hose blew and it overheated and blew a head gasket), original 10 bolt Camaro front and rear ends removed immediatly after purchase and replaced with one ton gear. My '88 4x4 crewcab dually has only 59,000 original miles (I bought it new).

Hey Donovan, what type of fuel mileage do you get with the Cad 500??

122K on my 86K5, engine, trans, both axles have been rebuilt/replaced. Only original drivetrain part is the transfer case.
My work truck has 235k on original 350, TH-350, and 12-bolt. The body has about rusted off of the frame, but the rest of it wont die!
