I don't like the pintle hich. I don't have hich for that and it slops around and makes noise. Do any of them have a 2" ball?

you need to look at the weight it will carry also,,the lil one say's it is 1/4 ton.when you think about it,,that's not really a lot of weight.im sure that would fill up fast if you take along a lot of parts and camping gear.i'd opt for the larger if it hold's more,,which it look's like it does.besides,,you ever try to back up one of those short lil thing's ? you need a turning radius of a lawnmower !! i'd go for the bigger one.
also,,did you happen to check out the rest of that web site and go to the search page,,i found several M1009's on there for auction and 3/4 ton at that, although not all. sure would be nice to have a deuce and 1/2 to cruise in,,lol.
there was also a UNIMOG on there to ! I WANT !!
    but it's in germany [IMG]
guess i'll stick to the blazer[IMG]

the 416 is a tinny thing but they are cool. if it has no gate they will float if there are no rust holes. Good size for pulling down a trail.
the 101 is HUGE especialy if it's on the military rims and tires. it's about 6ft wide and loading hight is about 40 inches. they will take a beating but not something you would want to drag down the trail.
They have a parking brake too. No no chocks needed for them.
As for the pintle...best for offroad. What you can do is weld a peice of reciever tube on to the tounge. you can buy a reciever pintle ring from Northern. Then get a you can make it quick change between pintle and ball. If you go this route you need to get the swivel style pintle hitch of the truck side. They have a plate that will fit the receiver that that you can bolt the pintle to.
Now fair warning...military traillers are high toungs. some universal reciver hitches for the truck you can install the cross bar upside down. if your running a stock bumper you can remove the license plate insert and it will allow the clearence. The one I'm using is a A-Car universal fron a 73-87 GM truck. Worked out good.
Also Nothern Catalog sells a trailer axle with the 6 on 5.5 lug pattern so you can fit standard rims. Problem is you will loose the parking brake but you can gain electric trailer brakes if you get the 101.

831-724-0588 they have two parked on the side, look larger and taller,I prefer the pintle style tongue matched with a swival pintle, louder but safer

Thanks Guys!! My wife just put me into a budjet with miniamal cash flow[IMG] so I'll have to save up before I can do anything. Just thinking it would be nice to have the extra space for the trip to Moab.
