Here's a link to a table of average, high record, and low record temps for Moab. The average high for August is only 96. The good news is that the record high for August is only 110 degrees. [IMG] Don't forget to check out the record lows also, as it can get chilly in the desert at night. So be sure you're prepared. And bring plenty of sunscreen! [IMG]

Yeah, Moab is pretty dry. You'll want to have plenty of drinking water with you. [IMG]

I've also been out there when a thunderstorm would brew up. It can rain hard out there! But there's not much in the way of soil to absorb the water, so it's dry again an hour later. [IMG]

Yeah, but there ain't no tall hotels creating shade for ya in Moab. [IMG] No air conditioned casinos either. [IMG]

I too got caught in a rainstorm there.... Funny, with all that slickrock - nothing soaked in....!! and in minutes water was flowing all around us...

If it starts to rain.... head for high ground!

Isn't that amazing? There are streams and waterfalls everywhere within a matter of minutes! We came to one spot where a stream was running alongside the trail that we were on, then going off of a cliff. But the wind was blowing hard against the face of the cliff, causing the waterfall to rise 15-20 feet into the air and blow back onto the mesa that we were on. It was a pretty impressive sight! [IMG] 30 minutes later we were basking in the sun on a rock. [IMG]

A few years earlier, we got to watch a flash flood near Newspaper Rock in Canyonlands National Park. I was out in the rain, taking pitcures of all the waterfalls coming off the tops of the mesas. [IMG]
