mod neccessary to fit 2.5\" ram horns on 73+ frame!

I thought it was a direct bolt on, but it's not.
On the driver's side motor mount (clamshell OE type) the part of the mount that bolts to the side of the engine block is in the way and has to be clearanced.
I used my oxy torch - if it weren't for that, I think the only way to do it would be to remove that motor mount and work on it on the bench.
I had to cut good sized notch on the back (towards the tailgate) side, but left a good chunk of metal next to where the motor mount insert metal clip is (If you look at any replacement motor mount insert, you'll know what I'm talking about.

Just thought I'd pass the word because the idea I got by asking around was that it is a bolt on.

For that much effort, aren't headers easier? : )

You don't understand Dorian, these ram horns look baaaaaaaad.
When the exhaust is on, it should flow as well as shorty type headers but with manifold durability and quietness.
    And plus they look great.
Cost about $86 plus shipping at gmpartsdirect (each.) Very comparable to BUDGET headers.
Did I mention how cool they look?

I'm guessing that they dump straight down, right in the center of the head. I've got the factory 'vette mini-headers that dump in that location and also had to notch the bracket to make the drivers side fit. But since the engine wasn't all the way in the truck yet, we also fabbed a brace and welded it into the bracket to make sure that the bracket wouldn't bend. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Rather than link pics, I've linked the exhaust page. It looks really good, especially since I routed the wires UNDER the mnaifolds like they are supposed to be.

If you need any more info or pics, PM me.

One word of caution. I didn't learn that they won't fit the 2 bolt valve cover heads untill after I bought my manifolds. /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif The newer valve covers are wider and the arches will hit the cover before they seat fully. Clearancing will let them mount, but I decided it didn't look too good for gasket longevity...

Mike are yours still holding up? Mine are doing good. Had one of the nuts at the collector back off and started leaking, tightened it down and kept on getting up.

Mine are fine. I thought I had a leak, but it was just some oil or something burning off. Good so far.

[/ QUOTE ] They look better than a set of headers? headers give that modified motor look while manifolds are...well manifolds. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Just my H.O.
