i'm getting exhaust in a few weeks and i've narrowed it down to 3 options.

    true dual 2.5" w/ 2 flowmaster 50 series
    single 3" w/ flowmaster 50 series
single 3" w/ flowmaster 40 series delta flow

i want something loud but tolerable, my dad has a 3" 50 series cat-back system so i need to be louder than him. oh and by then i'll have a set of Doug Thorley headers.

Heard you get better low end tork with a single Flowmaster with 3" pipe. I have the single Flowmaster 50 series.. I like it.

That's what I had...nice and loud but a good tone, not annoying like glasspacks. I recently switched to 40 series.../forums/images/icons/cool.gif

I had 40 series on my off-road, and the first time I drove 30 minutes with my windows up I came back with a headache. I wouldn't got 40 series!

when i lived in vegas a few years ago, the big thing was to replace the stock muffler with a straight pipe. this way, the cat muffled down the tone and it sounded real deep. it only cost about 35 bucks to have them do it. mow i live in NC and all vehicles MUST have a muffler, so i have a 40 series deltaflow and catco cat and it sounds pretty damn good too, but the muffler was 83 bucks!!

    good luck rob

I don't find the 40 series to be much louder than the 50's, but I don't have any large tips on the tailpipes with the 40's. I've made a few long freeway trips with this system on and I've never felt it to be too loud. My Swampers easily drown out the exhaust note on the freeway...

if you want it to be loud leave the donut out of you exhuast manifold!!! I just pulled off my exhaust manifold and there wasn't a donut in there. now 99 cents later i can almost here my stereo over my truck.

I am running heddman headdars, single chameber flomaster and a true dual 3". Trust me, you dont get much louder. Cops dont all to particualy like this setup. When i change it i will go to a 40seriers with single 3". Nice tone

I actually like the sound of glasspacks...

the problem I have with flomasters is this hollow sound in the middle of the exhaust note... its got low grumble, and some high, but it doesn't have rattle your guts lows, or rupture your brains mid tones. the flowmasters under my K20 also resonate with the cab, and give a headache after perhaps 5 minutes of stop and go traffic ( Idle makes your brain hurt quickly) my crappy 30 inch cherry bombs on the other hand give a nice deep low throaty grumble, like a pissed off tiger, ( or Dragon, as per the name of the truck) and one helluvalotta noise when I go WOT with it. ( especialy on the 454, and the exhaust system being too short for its own good)

I also occasionaly enjoy uncapping the 2 1/4 inch true duals on the 454, and drive it with pure straitpipe. of course, its so loud, your inner dialogue has to be carried out with hand motions, but its fun to do once in a while. another thing that helps: my trucks are old enough not to have Cats...
