    <font color=purple> O.k. guys/gals,

Here are a couple of new pics of my interior that I ripped out today, and now have found some things I didn't want to find. There has been a patch put in right over one of the body bolts and the one across from it is rusty all around it ...... I plan on putting in a 2" body lift and now things got worse. How do I fix this dilemma ? What is the best way around it ? I'd appreciate all advise !! I'm counting on all of you.

well I think you might not want a body lift now and might want to buy yourself a welder (wire feed)grind away the rust and patch it right put the patch in place under the truck bigger than the holeand weld it from the inside then cut a piece to fill the dip area then weld it in place remember to tack all the plate every 2" than come back and weld the whole perimiter

    88k5 silverado w4"lift soon to have <font color=orange>d44 and corp14ff</font color=orange> with 4.56s

My old K5 had that same problem. I went to the boneyard with my handy dandy cordless sawzall and cut a piece out of the floor of a wrecked Burb, then made 12" X 12" patches and welded them in. They didn't even charge me for the piece I cut out.

I forgot - I also tacked a 1/2" Fender washer on each side of the body bolt hole to give it a little extra meat.

    <font color=purple> Hey coopertwpk,

Why did you say that I might not what a body lift now ? Is it because I have to fix first........... I have the lift already.

hey riz-are you replacing the carpet? Have you ordered it yet and from where? I'm doing the same thing you are, but no rust...just big cracks where the seats bolt in...

<font color=purple>90K5 - No, I haven't ordered the carpet yet, I was thinking of LMC though. I want to do the interior in Saddle and they have it. I wanted to have it all done in time for Spring, but with the new finds it might not be possible. I don't weld and I'm thinking it might take a little longer than I antisipated.

You can fix this with a big plate of steal and a stick-welder. If you dont have a cheap stick-welder, nows a perfect time. Theire just a litle over/under 100 bucks.

First take a grinder and cut that brown cancer out. Clean the area where the plate overlapps. Place large piece of steal on hole and weld around it. Clean upp ugly weld lumps and drill new hole for bolt. I learned how to weld last summer and by practicing on two pieces of steal I got pretty good at it. If you decide to get a welder you will find yourself staring at junk-metal in a hole new way. [IMG][IMG]

<font color=purple> Thanks Espen - I priced welders today, I figure nows as good a time as any to pick one up. God knows I'll make use of it once I learn how to use it. I have one question though, How much of an amp rating do I need ? 80,90,100 ? Also, what brand name would you guys suggest ?

riz - are you changing the color of the seatbelts too? Mine are that color, and the female end is messed up, all the plastic is broken and it sits on the floor. I'd buy it from the dealer, but you have to get the complete set, and I just need the part that goes on the floor. If you are changign the colors, I'll buy the drivers side floor thing from you.
